Wise Creek Spears(rebar) at Take-out

****UPDATE!****UPDATE!**** The spikes have been fixed and the road is now open! The canoe launch and the road was opened on September 4, 2019.

BEWARE! Everyone always said there was rebar at the Wise Creek take out. Well, the water was low enough (395cfs) on Oct 14, 2017 that we could see it! These are SCARY!!! These spears that looks like giant nails go through the logs to keep the bank in place but the logs have fallen in the water and the spears are all sticking straight up and lurking just below the surface! Besides those of us in kayaks and canoes, people of all ages swim here all Spring, Summer, Fall (and some of us all Winter). All of these spears are on river left at the Wise Creek take out. Some are just above the water at low levels and others are out of the water at low water. You'd never see them at higher water but if you fall out of your boat or roll and wind up on river left, they could easily spear you. There are lots more of these, I only put up these few pictures.
