Lakeview Revisited 7 months after Katrina
These pictures were all taken in March 2006.
It doesn't look like as much is going on as should be.
The square is expanded as a map of the area where the pictures on this page were taken.
Click on the picture. If I have the same or similar picture from right after the storm, it is at the other end of the click. You may want to right click and display in another window or tab to compare what has been done in the months since the storm or just click to see them all at once. The water lines from the flood are still very visable. They are not easy to clean off of the houses.

LSU Dental School. They still do not have power. The basement and first floors flooded. They do not expect to open until next year.
Fire station at the corner of Gen. Haig and Robert E. Lee Blvd. They are now living in their own version of a FEMA trailer. Many of the fire houses are still not manned due to the flood.
PJs between Paris Ave. and Hamburg St. The parking lot now has fewer cars but it is still not cleared of the mud from the flood. No one is allowed. to park here and none of the stores are open. The mud was about 2 inches deep and covered the whole parking lot. The London Ave Canal break was 2 blocks from this shopping center and there isn't a PJs or coffee shop for miles.. The buildings are semi-gutted. This is within 3 blocks of UNO.
Parking lot adjacent to PJs on Hamburg St. It still has not been cleared and the building is not gutted.
The old lighthouse by the yacht club at the end of the 17th Street Canal.
This house on New York St. has not been gutted, nor have the contents been cleared. This house is right next to UNO and if I look closely when I leave, I can still see the refrigerator laying on it's side. I'll bet this one really smells ripe.
This house is on Pontchatrain Blvd. near 34th Street. It was finally gutted but nothing else has been done. And one picture of the house from across the neutral ground.
