Katrina August 29, 2005
This apartment belonged to a friend of mine. It was about 3 blocks from the London Ave. levee break right near UNO. The water came up to the ceiling in his apartment. It receeded some within a week but stayed at about 5 feet for weeks after that. It was at the corner of Paris Ave. and Robert E. Lee Blvd.

Almost everyone put their smelly refrigerator's out. There is no way to imagine the smell of a refrigerator or freezer that had been without electricity and in the heat for 3 or more weeks. The ones that were flooded were even worse. The whole city smelled.
Part of the insides of someone's house. All the houses out this way looked like this a few days after the people came back.
